Ingredients and Substitutions Overview
The ingredients you will need to make this Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie are simple pantry basics and you might already have them at home. So let's see what are they below.
- Banana - Fresh or frozen Banana works for this smoothie. But adding frozen banana gives you a thick and extra creamy drink. Here in this recipe, I have used fresh banana and to achieve a thick drink I have used ice cubes while blending the ingredients
- Peanut Butter - It is a good source of protein and also helps to reduce your appetite. It also helps to gain muscle mass during your weight loss
- Milk - Full-fat milk delivers a creamy texture but feel free to use other types of milk of your choice
- Yogurt - Full-fat yogurt or vanilla-flavored yogurt gives a good flavor to your drink. You can also coconut yogurt or other kinds of non-dairy yogurt
- Vanilla Essence - Skip the vanilla essence, if you are using vanilla yogurt
- Sweetener (optional) - I have used 1 tsp of brown sugar and it is optional to use it. You can also use honey, maple syrup, or other kinds of sweetener as well

Chef's Notes and Tips
- Fresh or Frozen Banana - You can feel free to use fresh or frozen bananas that are handy to you. But usually frozen bananas give a thick and creamy drink compared to fresh ones. But if you are inclined to use fresh bananas like me then I recommend adding ice cubes to achieve a thick drink
- Protein - Even though peanut butter has a good amount of protein on its own, you can also add your favorite protein powder to boost the nutrition
- Dairy - Usually full-fat milk and yogurt give a creamy texture to your smoothie. But for a vegan-friendly version, replace them with almond milk, oat milk, or any other kind of plant-based milk. You can also replace the yogurt with non-dairy yogurt as well
- For Extra Flavors - Though vanilla essence and peanut butter deliver their unique flavor and taste to the drink, feel free to mix up things like chocolate, dates, or oatmeal for extra flavors
- Sweetener - For a healthy version, I recommend adding a tsp of honey, maple syrup, palm, or brown sugar. You can also skip the sweetener as peanut butter, and banana usually delivers a natural sweetness. Controlling sugar intake also helps to achieve our weight loss goal
